One of my source of traffic are from forums. It’s an ideal place to find related traffic and organic backlink to my blogs. It works, it is free but do take note of the forum etiquette. Here’s my guide to creating backlinks from forums
- Don’t Spam – The main idea is to build organic traffic, so don’t spam every forums section. If you do so, you’ll likely to get nasty messages and a ban might be in order
- Related Forums - Find a popular forum that’s related to your blog niche. To find one, just Google it
- Signature - Another criteria in finding the right forums, are forums that allow signature. Signatures are where you’ll be leave your blog mark. Your URL will be added here
- Anchor Text - When completing your profile, try to use anchor text related to your blog keyword. Don’t add long title with no added text value. For example if your blog is about dog, the suitable anchor text would be for example “Dog Canine Blog”
- When posting – A forum is a place to share knowledge, so when you post any reply to setup any topic, don’t be vague. Don’t post messages like “thank you” or “yo dude”. A one-liner post that adds no value to the forum is a big no-no. People will know you’re just there to add your signature to the topic only
- Don’t PM people – One of the pet peeves of mine when on forums are users unknown to me private messaging me, pleading to visit his blog or buy his product. What a moron. Don’t be like them. Have some class
Hope the above is of help and will get you started on getting more backlinks
