Yahoo and Google search engines are the two most popular and hugely looked upon data metrics by people for searching stuff. So it seems when I checked my backlinks of both sites recently, I noticed that Yahoo has more of my backlinks rather than Google. You might check it yourself and find in similar situation as me

So is this bad?

Well yes and no, but there’s nothing to be worried about of course. For one, it’s good to know the amount of backlinks you have, to ascertain your authority of your niche and also it reflects the work you’ve done so far building traffic. By knowing such figures, you can work from there to either make more effort in making more such links or focus on the current links to improve on the landing pages, so as your CPA and CPC success-rate will increase

Yahoo search engine page will display both the pages than has been indexed and the pages linking to you. The exact figures are displayed. Pretty nifty hur. But don’t be too happy. Yahoo takes into account all back links no matter they are do-follow or no-dofollow, that’s why the backlink figures here are more than Google

To check in Google. Key into form “site:testdomain.com”

If you were to do the above, your Google backlinks will be displayed for pages that has indexed by Google. To confirm the exact backlinks figures, its better however to use Google Webmaster Tool. Under Dashboard > SiteLinks > Here, it will show “Pages with external links”, “Pages with internal links” and “Sitelinks” even. Bear in mind not all backlinks are displayed however compared to Yahoo. I’m still unsure how their algorithm works

So what now …

So now you know if your blog has backlinks, internal and external. Bear in mind one way link is always highly looked upon and the more people of related blogs linked to you, the better your blog authority will be and higher also on search engine rankings. Also do remember, any blogs in bad neighbourhood linking to you is a big no-no

And if you don’t happen to see any of your links from the above techniques explained, don’t be alarmed as your blog is probably new. It takes Google to update every 3 months while yahoo display backlinks quickly as long as they see your backlinks

And if after 3 months you still don’t see links, probably your blog got penalized
Did you breach any of Google TOS or Yahoo TOS
