Your Blog Domain Name Could Just Infringe On Trademark Rights!

Well my evening yesterday was ruined when I received a letter than one of my domain names owned infringed on a trademark. It’s an enforcement letter to hand over the domain

Yeah right. In the first place, it wasn’t my intention to violate any trademark and its a pretty generic domain name, well kinda … So what’s the next step if you do receive such letter?

Here’s what I did

1. It’s not worth the time and effort to fight these “cease and decease” letter from lawyers. So I just deleted the site and put the domain name on temporary placement hold
2. The domain is still registered under my name but I’m not using it for any purposes, so I reckon I’m not involved any illegal counts of activity under the trademark name
3. If they really insist on wanting the domain, well they could have it
4. In the future, I’ll do a research on domain names I’m buying so as to make sure there is no trademark violation. A good start is http://www.uspto.gov
