From Kumiko’s blog, she has came up with a interesting PageRank article. Then it got me thinking, how well do I know Google PageRank other than it’s purpose of making money where reviews sites uses it to gauge your blog popularity to match the level of money opportunity.
So I went on a online research spree. There’s plenty of articles out there online, but I found a really good one, in-detailed in understandable layman terms. It’s Google PageRank: What Do We Know About It?
Here’s the main pointers I manage to sift out
- one of numerous methods Google uses to determine a page’s relevance or importance.
- PageRank is based on incoming links
- PR(A) = (1-d) + d(PR(t1)/C(t1) + … + PR(tn)/C(tn)). That’s the equation that calculates a page’s PageRank. “ In the equation “t1 – tn’ are pages linking to page A, “C’ is the number of outbound links that a page has and “d’ is a damping factor, usually set to 0.85.â€
- Content is not taken into account when PageRank is calculated
- Google calculates pages PRs permanently, but we see the update once every few months (Google Toolbar)
- Frequent content updates don’t improve Page Rank automatically
- .edu and .gov-sites don’t improve Page Rank automatically
- Sub-directories don’t necessarily have a lower Page Rank than root-directories
- Links marked with nofollow-attribute don’t contribute to Google PageRank
Currently this blog has no PageRank and I tried Kuanhoong’s Predict your Google PageRank Tool, it gave me an insufficient backlink. So that’s suck, so I just hope on the next Google PageRank update, it will be a good one as I invested some paid backlinks at DigitalPoint :-)

sha, when is the update eh? i noticed my PR dropped to 2 from 3… so isit like updated already?. (WHICH is really sad, cuz huh i thought mine supposed to go up hahahah)
i heard its end of aug for the pagerank … i’m not sure if its the exact time but most concensus says this month
probably people removed your link … do more free backlinks reviews ok or buy them
