It’s an interesting article by Serverdome on How the top bloggers display their ads. The ads was counted in percentages and numbers. Here’s their finding

It has come to my conclusion that our Asian pro-bloggers are not displaying as much ads as our western pro-blogger counterparts. We Asian, hover well average around 10% ads level compared to the worlds’ pro-blogger of around 15%
Does it mean that the more ads percentage has some correlation with the amount of profit can be gained from monetizing your blog. We all know how much John Chow earns from his monthly report, and he tops the chart at a staggering 27.86% ads presence
When is it will it be considered having too much ads. Well what I’ve come to learn is that, a monetized blog should not sell-out totally and plastered a whole load of ads on your blog but there’s should be restricted to 15% at most when starting out
I don’t think John Chow started out plastering too many ads. Only when you have that considerable traffic and following, only then I believe you can whore out and maximize the spaces on your blog
As long its not beyond that 25% adverts, I think your blog will not be too commercialized and yet still optimized for both content and the monetization. As they would usually say it, “too little or too much of anything, its going to spoil it”
So there you go … so whats your ad percentage?
Calculated using simple mathematics. I capture a whole screenshot of blog and calculate total area. Then i added up the advertisemtn total area and tally a percentage over the total blog area. More or less there’s +/-2% error in calculation. The following calculations are based on blog content area vs ads area and may not be fully accurate

Good one Sha! I am so gonna plug this. Hahaha, Malunyer, the most ads blog. But kalau compare dengan the real probloggers, tak lah teruk sangat kan?
Thanks Lilian, anyway i did this post a few weeks back, so the theme is of your old one
yeah we still way under the radar on the ads hogging our blogs .. maybe we should put more?
for a newbie like me,we have to build the foundation 1st before can sell ad space lah..skarang ini our ad space is conquered by adsense +bidvertiser lah..
have to slowly build the blog..
yeah build traffic first, then we add the major ads
many downfall of many monetized blogs, too many ads
What is the formula that you use to come to that conclusion?
Maybe you can share with us so that we can do some calculation as well. Indeed we are not making full use of our blogs to make more $$. But does the advertiser target asian bloggers?
i calculated using simple mathematics. I capture a whole screenshot of blog and calculate total area.

more or less there’s +/-2% error in calculation, not much
i don’t know about advertiser demographics & requirement but i’m sure some are looking for local bloggers. i’ve been approached couple of times. just keep your blog updated and ad space-ready
[…] After reading an interesting post by Sha over at Shamoneymaker.com, it struck me that I’ve probably been leaving easy money on the table by not realising Sabahan.com full advertising potential. […]
[…] I am actually quite embarassed with Sha’s analysis of the amount of ads we bloggers have on our blogs. I topped the chart because LOL, I have 15.5% of my personal blog space dedicated to ads. However, the positive side of me compare my percentage with JohnChow (27.86%) and Problogger (17.76%) and realise that I am at that ideal stage of monetizing our blog space. […]
A matter of fact, there is no need to have too many ads around, if every direct ads cost $100/mth and you have six you make $600, and someother misc programs that can revenue in thousands. Traffic and ranking status will get you far. Not the number of ads shown.
true … if you’ve direct targeted advertisers at hand, yeah you got the luxury of lesser ads and focus more on the content and other stuff
Thanks for stopping by Etienne
how to calculate?
Hmm…this is an interesting finding. Good job.
Hi tommy, read my earlier comment :)
Eh, you selamat lagi…tak ada telur. Wish you luck! LOL.
saya dapat telur di blog lain saya … hairan betul
tak per la, mesti ada cara lain supaya tak rely kat google
setelah dapat telur, tapi traffic masih sama … saya harap it stays that way
[…] The experiment was conducted in response to a post by Sha of Shamoneymaker.com where he calculated how much a space is dedicated to advertising in a blog. […]
